Michael "Micky" Doherty 29 June 1933 – 21 Dec 2011 〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Mr. Michael Doherty )〕 is a former Fianna Fáil politician in Ireland. He was a senator from 1987 to 1989. Background A native of Esker, Ballinalee, County Longford, Doherty entered local politics in 1967 serving as a county councillor for over two decades before eventually stepping down from public life in the mid 90s. An auctioneer by profession, Michael, or ‘Mickey’ as he was more commonly referred to by his friends and peers, also enjoyed a two-year spell as a senator (1987–89) after securing election to the 18th Seanad’s administrative panel. Doherty was closely aligned to former Taoiseach Albert Reynolds becoming a special advisor upon the latter's election in 1992.
